For some reason Dell does not even offer audio drivers for my system.Even if I werent having problems I want to make sure all is up-to-date I find it disturbing that Dell would plug in their own version of a sound card and not even offer drivers for it.This issue with outdated (and buggy) Audigy 2ZS drivers has been around for a while.Dell knows about it because several others have penned their frustration on this board and (me included) have called Dell customer support and complained without any success.
Sb Audigy Drivers For MyKeep this in mind next time youre asked whether youd buy another Dell computer. Creative made the card.ask them. Dell just puts the parts together.and Dell cards are NOT the retail version of the Audigy 2 ZS. There have been constant messages about the microphone not working with the SB Audigy 2 ZS on the XPS Gen 4 and above on the forums.Maybe Creative can help but search the creative site for more info. We get an error message saying that the update program cannot find an Audigy 2ZS installed in our systems. Dell has been made aware of this issue as well. There is no mention of Gen 5 Im not going to mess with a questionable driver patch. BTW it only took about 20 minutes to weed through the downloads to find THAT one. If I cant get a high-end Dell computer with properly supported hardware, whats going to happen when I order a half-dozen 800-1000 replacement units for work Sorry.there is no BIOS update we dont offer the chipset drivers for that model. Although it does not affect me personally.it really affects us ALL. If Creative and Dell cant get together on this its a warning to all potential buyers. Is anyone at Dell listening This can certainly affect future sales from those that buy your best and most expensive computers. It may be worth a try for some of you. Thanks for the link Ill give it a try as soon as I set a restore point. Yeah, I get the feeling that Dell just has overstocked things like this sound card they just want to get rid of as much as they can. Ive been passing my rant around to the PC mags various tech BBSs. Comsumer Reports is next probably the Better Business Bureau if I cant get some resolution. It also said I had to make sure I had the current drivers installed, but didnt offer them.
